Medical Botox

Excessive sweating, also know as hyperhidrosis, is a condition that affects millions of people around the world. Hyperhidrosis can affect the face, hands, feet or underarms. It is often an inherited trait that stops the body from properly regulating its temperature. Until now, this condition was difficult to control. Botox for hyperhidrosis targets sweating at its source.

Botox is a purified protein toxin that has been used for medical treatment since 1978. Injection of Botox into the underarms or forehead and scalp can reduce or completely prevent underarm or facial sweating. Botox blocks the release of a chemical that signals the sweating. The average duration of response is 8 months. For nearly 40% of all patients, Botox reduces sweating for more than a year.

Many drug plans will cover the cost of the Botox itself, but not the injection fee. Botox costs approximately $350 with an injection fee of $200. A referral from another doctor is necessary for a consultation on excessive sweating.
